Notice of Desegregation Plan Given to Middle School Students

“I was a student in the Haywood County public school system in 1964. I attended Waynesville Junior High. I brought an original copy—which I thought would be pertinent in today's world—of a document I received while I was a student there at that time: the Notice of School Desegregation Plan Under Title Six of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It was something that was given to students to inform them about the desegregation of our schools. I kept a copy of this notice and I think it will help to answer many questions about school desegregation at that time.”
