Soldiers Depart for Mexican Border, 1916

After the United States entered World War I, the men of Waynesville Company H of the First North Carolina Infantry were called up to defend America’s border with Mexico. These soldiers departed from the Waynesville train depot on June 26, 1916, and were sent to France a year later.
