Hotel Waynesville, Main Street, 1946

The Hotel Waynesville opened in 1899 and closed in the late 1940s. Guests sitting on its spacious front porch had a grand view of downtown Waynesville from the vantage point of Church Street and Main Street. By 1920, Waynesville boasted 9 hotels and 52 boarding houses (or boarding farms) which gave the area a total overnight capacity of about 2000.
